fuck.

i've been negatively discriminated by a coursemate of mine, and of all things, i'm acused of being "artsy-fatsy". like, what the FUCK is that?

in his words, artsy fatsy people are "arrogant, loud, annoying, bimbotic, smoke (ok, guilty as charged), whine a lot (huh?), etc". is this a form of middle-class, english-speaking discrimination??

and i've found out within a breathe of a minute that i've been written off JUST LIKE THAT by manjens!! dammit! i've always given manjens and seemingly weird people chances. i try my darnest not to hold these things against them and it turns out (or at least according to my coursemate), that all the "normal people" aka everyone OUTSIDE my extensive circle of friends, all think that way! oh dearie me, should i be concerned now? of course, his brand of logic is entirely couched within a sino-centric paradigm. how ABSOL-FUCKING-LUTELY convenient. *glowers*

so what if i'm more comfortable with english? so what if my mother tongue is english? so what if i don't fit into your pardigm, into what you claim is normal - a typical mandarin-speaking, sino-centric mold?

so what if i care enough to speak english ALL THE TIME so that people of OTHER RACES who cannot understand mandarin, can understand what's going on at all times, even though the conversation has NOTHING to do with them? its called fucking basic courtesy.

why am i discriminated based on the fact that when i feel passionately about things, i EXPRESS them instead of nodding my head and pretending that it doesn't bother me.

why am i discriminated based on the fact that i'm more comfortable in english, that i'm more articulate than your average manjen.

why am i discriminated based on the fact that i can do last minute work and get away with it, for "being a bum". i have other things to do besides academic work! my whole life doesn't revolve around fucking school!

why am i discriminated based on the fact that i like to have fun, that i want to have a nice cold beers on lazy afternoons, that i club occassionally and that i listen to music that isn't from the chinese-speaking world?

i'm just extremely flabbergausted that this is happening! why should i be penalised just because i don't share the same background, worldviews and ideologies as you?!

what a fucked up mentality.
