"J'ai rêvé dans la grotte où nage la sirène"
(I have dreamed in the cave where the siren swims)

Gérard de Nerval

jesus christ! the fire alarm just rang for a good 10 mins at PGP - yes at the uncanny hour of 3.45a.m.

it TRIPPED.

YES, it TRIPPED and effectively woke up the ENTIRE residence - that's all FIVE blocks, with nine floors, with 15 people per floor, averaging about 600 people.

all brutally woken up or jolted out of contemplation, cos the DAMN fire alarm was so darn loud i couldn't even hear the music streaming from my laptop. i mean, honestly.

and there were poor sods out in the courtyard who thought the fire alarm was for real! still dressed in their PJs some of them are. i can see them streaming slowly back up the stairways and alleys to their little rooms cursing BrightBeam Management under their breath.

and now i've got a headache. from all that incessant RINGING.

scary part was that my floor was deadly quiet. not quite sure whether that was because

1) they knew it was a fake fire alarm (apparently during a real fire, the alarm goes on and off in pulses)

2) they didn't care

3) they were too sound asleep

4) they're really not there at all and are actually figments of my imagination

seriously, i could hear commotion from the cluster opposite mine and the floor below me, but my cluster? nary a peep.

i feel so safe knowing that if a pyscho babbling, parang wielding, menthol smoking murderer were to suddenly, and dexterously, scale six floors worth of perilous ledges, and unexpectedly leap into my room, no one would care or come to my rescue when i literally scream bloody murder. at least, no one from my floor lah. heh.
